Celebrity Closeup: Jada Pinkett Smith

Jada Pinkett Smith was born in a tough neighbourhood of Baltimore, Maryland, when her mother was still in high school. Though her parents did marry, they split up when the future star was just a few months old, and she was raised largely by her grandmother. It was her grandma who noticed Jada’s interest in performing, and enrolled her in all kinds of classes, including ballet, tap dancing, piano and gymnastics.
