Trump’s hush money trial begins with opening statements

The historic criminal trial of Donald Trump over hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels opened Monday. Defense lawyer Todd Blanche began by declaring: “Donald Trump is innocent”. According to prosecutor Matthew Colangelo, Trump tried to „corrupt the 2016 presidential election“. The questioning of the first witness, former National Enquirer editor David Pecker, will continue on Tuesday.
