Nicolás Maduro Moros ist ein venezolanischer Politiker der Vereinigten Sozialistischen Partei und aktueller Präsident des Landes. Er war von 2006 bis zum 16. Januar 2013 Außenminister, ab Oktober 2012 Vizepräsident der Präsidialen Bundesrepublik Venezuela und führte für den erkrankten Hugo Chávez bis zu den vorgezogenen Neuwahlen, die durch Chávez‘ Tod am 5. März 2013 notwendig wurden, die Amtsgeschäfte. Er gewann die Präsidentschaftswahl in Venezuela 2013 am 14. April 2013 nach Angaben der Wahlbehörde mit 50,66 Prozent der Stimmen gegen den Herausforderer Henrique Capriles.
