Farmers drove their tractors into the centre of the southern French city of Toulouse late on Tuesday night, despite a ban on doing so by local authorities. Amid a heavy police presence, around fifteen tractors parked close to local government offices, in protest over economic hardships being faced by French farmers and the planned signing of an accord between the European Union and the South American Mercosur bloc.
