Colombian pop superstar Shakira made a surprise visit to Quibdó, the capital of the Chocó province, on Monday to tour damaged schools and meet children affected by the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck the region on August 10, pledging an initial $1.25 million through her Fundación Pies Descalzos charitable foundation to build at least 10 new schools.
