The British government has announced plans to ban teenagers aged 16 and 17 from using social media between midnight and 6am by default, extending restrictions introduced in June that already prohibit under-16s from accessing a range of platforms. The bill is expected to go before parliament before the end of 2026, with measures potentially in place as early as spring 2027.
